The Game, October 1921 - Magazine produced by members of the Guild of St Joseph and St Dominic with wood engravings by Eric Gill, David Jones, Philip Hagreen and others

The Evan Gill Collection of some 400 items was acquired in 2006 with support from the Heritage Lottery, the Victoria and Albert Museum Purchase Fund, the Art Collection Fund, the Pilgrim Trust, East Sussex County Council, the Newby Trust and individuals. It was collated by Eric Gill’s younger brother Evan throughout his lifetime and includes Gill’s childhood and other drawings, correspondence, photographs, memorabilia and books, many of them printed by the St Dominic Press.

Detailed annotations made by Evan Gill provide a valuable resource for researchers into Gill’s life and his work. The collection forms the basis for ‘The Inscriptions of Eric Gill’ by Evan Gill published by Cassell and Co Ltd, 1964.

The collection is currently being catalogued and we hope to make it available to researchers in mid 2008.
